Good evening fellow campers I can now divulge our latest adventure. We went to the Vineyards at Pine Lake in Columbiana Ohio, through a new app I found called Harvest Hosts. Since I am new at it I take it as a safe place to spend one night on your travels and experience different ways of camping such a boon-docking or as fire-starter says boon-dockeling. In short you are all self contained, water, power, etc.… I thought it would be a new experience to try. Well truth be told (it’s our secret) we were provided power. This is unusual but truly appreciated. It just gives your host bonus points to attract more campers and potential customers. You are asked to at least patronage their business or if not a business say a church give them a small monetary donation for their hospitality. As I learn more about it I will share the information. Back to our day. We arrived around 10:00 am that morning and were met by the owner. He instructed us where to park and that we could roam the grounds wherever we pleased. They are situated on Pine Lake and have a restaurant with a wine and craft beer tasting room and an event center for parties, weddings and the such. We took a nice walk around the grounds and took some photos as we walked. As we were walking the grounds a vendor stopped us and said he was to see me to go over his business because he thought I was the owner. I have been mistaken for a lot of things but vineyard owner was not one of them. I was amused and set the young man straight. Mrs. GOM has her take on the event as you will read later. The restaurant and tasting room opened at 3:00pm. So we decided to just sit outside our camper and chillax. This place was so peaceful and quiet that I dozed off. Mrs. GOM didn’t notice because she also dozed off. After we recovered from our long blink we freshened up an went to dinner. She had a glass of wine with her bang bang shrimp and caesar salad and I had a roast beast burger. The food was great and the wine delicious. We returned back to our camper for the remainder of the night . To our surprise in the early evening they had a band playing. Classic rock, right up our alley. After a pleasant night sleep we had coffee and watched the sun rise over the lake. All in all it was a great experience and looking forward to the next boon-dockeling experience but maybe actually boon-dockle. Now for Mrs GOM’s take….. " So picture this ... Mr. GOM a white haired over middle aged white haired man wearing a navy blue T shirt, gray elastic waist fruit of the loom jersey shorts, black no show socks (that actually show) and black tennis shoes. He is not a fashionista!!! He will tell you he’s not out to impress anyone. So when the vendor said you’re the man I need to talk to, thoughts were flying through my head wondering what in the world did he do now he never left my sight. I was actually speechless when he thought GOM was the owner or perhaps the manager of the vineyard. Returning to the RV I was still chuckling and Mr. GOM definitely had his ego inflated..... " ....... Well happy campers that's it for this short lived experience time to get ready for a beach trip with my favorite daughter and her husband. This should be a hoot.
