# 20 Hocking Hills... or should I say .... Hiking Hills...

It has finally arrived the first RV trip of the year. Hocking Hills Ohio. I don’t think I have enough to say about this place it is beautiful, if you dig nature this is the place to go. Be prepared to walk and walk and walk. But well worth it. We saw Old Mans cave-Cedar Falls and Ash Cave. Totally awesome. But as you know, and I know you know, any camping trip has a few ripples, you know like On Golden Pond when Henry Fonda couldn’t take anymore of Jane and tossed her overboard. Man did she make ripples. Anyway back to the story we got there got parked with maybe a cross word or two or thousand between me and Mrs. GOM. Typical stuff you know. When I went to put the slides out of course I got a error message G3 chassis off line. What the hell I never knew it was on line to begin with. Stupid technology. Well to get the slides out it is so sophisticated that I had to insert a pointy object into the override button deep down in the boules of the camper and if you remember from days gone by I’m not a limber ballerina as I once was. Well when you engage the override all hell breaks lose and all the slides move out a once sounds like lunch time for hundreds of sugar starved 4th graders. No worries GOM prevailed all slides out. I finally crawled my ballerina butt out after I got all my feeling back in my legs and I wasn’t seeing multiple colors anymore. We finish setting up and its cocktail time at last. It rained Friday night and part of Saturday morning what better way to spend a soggy Saturday but a winery. Hocking Hills Winery highly suggested great wine great appetizers and a great setting. We left there and explored the area. There was a neat farmers market/antique stores they had more _ _ _ _ crammed into every nook and cranny then cranny had nooks. It was fun seeing child hood toys and stuff people collect that was usually thrown away. On the way back our trusty steed a 1990 Jeep YJ decided that it didn’t want to close for Mrs. GOM so I strapped her in and told her to make sure that door didn’t swing open on the way back. I didn’t want it to get damaged. All good but she did get dive bombed from a pterodactyl who evidently had a steady diet of anything soft and squishy that can cause explosive diarrhea. Her hand looked like a socialites white glove. I almost took us over a Hocking Hill laughing. I was told repeatedly it wasn’t funny. Ok it wasn’t 🤞🏻. After some repairs I got the door working. I was going to ask her to clean the side of the jeep off (since she broke the door but I didn’t think it would be a good move on my part). I let the rain take care of it. Saturday night we went to the John Glenn Astronomy Park to learn about the Big Dipper. What can you say about the Big Dipper. Its definitely big and it is kinda dippy. All seriousness it was pretty cool. It looked like the Big Bang Theory class reunion. Oh one other thing I discovered a 1990 or at least this jeep doesn’t have an alarm to let you know the lights are on. But luckily they have park rangers that announce to everyone that there is a red Jeep Wrangler with a GOM sticker on it in the parking lot with the lights on. I stood up and as everyone was clapping and laughing I said I don’t know who owns this jeep but I would shut the lights off for them. I don’t think anyone bought it. There is a good reason that this park is where it is located it has some dark skies. When I say dark I mean D A R K. Try driving back to your camp with night sensitive eyes. Yikes. But we made it. Sunday was our day to visit the park. Also it was our 40th wedding anniversary. (Happiest 25 years of my life non consecutive of course wouldn’t have made it to 40 if they were.) ❤️❤️💋 Did you know minimum wage was $3.35 an hour in 1983 and Andy Griffith and Cindi Knight were married also? Me either. Wow what a co-winky dink. I'll have to tell you all about the Solo Mesa next time. All and all the trip was great but too short as they all are. Please enjoy the attached photos. And as always !!! Happy Camping…

Go get that QTL it doesn’t last for ever.
