# 22 The Party is Over

Well kids another season has come to an end to quick but not unexpected.  Everyone should take a moment to reflect on their summer adventures they had this season.   We picked our last adventure to be Hilton Head Island.   We left Thursday after work and a short 3 hour drive and we were in Flatwoods West Virginia KOA.  A very nice stop on any journey to a unique spot with its own amphitheater.  Then off to a Harvest Host Winery Windsor Run Cellars in Hamptonville NC.  Lisa was great and very helpful.  They have some unique innovative twists on wine.   Nice quiet setting.  Now for the main attraction Hilton Head Island.  The best 10lbs of crap in a 5lb bag ( Blivit).   You didn’t know you could learn something also did you?  Yes look it up if you don’t believe me.  How are you supposed to learn anything?  Ok I'll splain to you Lucy.   Lots of things to do, eat-drink-golf-boat etc … all jammed in a small area.  We stayed at the Hilton Head RV Resort, the farthest park east on the Island.  We were 1-1/4 miles from the beach a quick jaunt in the trusty jeep (that almost crapped the bed in the middle of the road) luckily I am educated in things G.O.M. does wrong.  Don’t accidentally  turn the key off while driving.  You know!! DATKOWD.  Also don’t trust G.O.M. to make reservations, I mix up nights and days like a baby, well close to a baby.  I’m liking softer foods more and more and I’m also sure I'll be in a diaper eventually.  Since I screwed up the reservation by a day and could not stay at our site we decided to head out early and see where the wind blew us.  Also a shout out to Z man, One Hot Mamas Barbecue was as good as advertised.  Thanks.  Prior to our departure we spent 3 days in the sun and sand, worth the 700 mile trip for sure.   We decided on our way home we would stop in Asheville NC to see the Biltmore Estate.  During the drive we needed gas so we stopped at a Shell station, gas stations are not built for rv’s, wether towing a vehicle or towing a trailer just not set up well, no room-a to move-a around-a.  While pumping many many gallons of dinosaur goo in my tank a wise southern man posed the question why I bought a gas unit when as he so eloquently pointed out the diesel pumps had more then enough-a room-a to roam-a around-a.  At that point I wondered it my self.   He also asked where I was headed I told him and his answer to me was in about 30 miles I was going to run into and I quote “ the worst roads god ever created”.   He wasn’t wrong. We pulled hills at 20mph, diesel trucks were cast on the side of the road over heating it was like a bad roller coaster ride up-down-turns construction jersey barriers very stressful.  Eventually we landed at the KOA East Asheville.  Perfect for our adventure to the Biltmore Estate a mere 13 miles from the campground.  There were other places to see such as Black Mountain-Chimney Rock-Bat Cave to name a few.  Maybe next time the Biltmore was the focus.  There was a-lot of history and a-lot to see.   Its 8000 acres roughly 12 sq. miles.  I wouldn’t want that lawn-care bill.  When we first arrived we went to the winery. What a beautiful place and the selections where tremendous.  You have to get your tickets for the estate on line and they come with a free wine tasting.  No worries no one leaves there empty handed.  After the tasting we had a wonderful lunch at a little cafe on the property.  Then off to the main attraction.   I cant say enough about the estate, I will let the pictures speak for them selves.   We left the next day for home.   An uneventful trip back with no surprises just as you hope for.   Another season has come and gone, as we all know not enough trips and not enough time.   So we packed the old girl in the mine for her long winter nap with the hopes of more great adventures with the next new season.

From G.O.M and Mrs. G.O.M.   have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Remember QTL doesn’t find you. You find it.

I'll try to find something to entertain you guys though the winter.  Im sure I'll do something GOMish.

May your campfire always have a warm glow.

Thanks Jimbo!!!
